June 2007 - People call me Skipper because I
believe the world will be a much happier place
when skipping becomes a more acceptable thing
for adults to do.
It breaks my heart that the majority of people
in “the land of the free and the home of the
brave” can't let go of worrying about what
others might think of them enough to skip
joyfully down the street. So I've dedicated my
life to helping rewrite the unspoken rule that
says “adults don't skip.” I have been
promoting skipping since 1999.
I have skipped on the mountaintop of an
amazing amount of national media exposure and I
have skipped through the valley of shattered
dreams and financial ruin…I am currently
working as a publicist at an amazing
publishing
company called New
World Library and am scaling the wall of
writing my own book. What a long strange skip it
continues to be.
These days my own skipping has become a lot more
sacred and less public. I'm not sure what comes
next for the “skipping movement” but I still
love to imagine how the
world would change if
every town in the world had even one inspired
skipper…Someone who skips with the clear
intention of doing their part to make the world
a little bit happier.
